Introduction:
The successful treatment of UV sterilization is depending on the correct wave length and the intensity of radiation. The correct UV unit can
damage the DNA structure of pathogens in the water; and destroy the cellular division of the pathogens thus kill these organisms. Recirculation system is designed to maintain perfectly balanced bacterial dynamics in the water. This is done by applying ultraviolet irradiation only to a carefully calculated portion of the water flow in each cycle. It's a common misconception that sterilizing all the water will control the bacterial dynamics in the rearing unit. However, as bacterial grow very rapidly on organic material, sterilizing the water would in fact have a destabilizing effect on the system. By partially UV treating the water flow, the healthy and useful bacteriafrom the biofilter are allowed to dominate and suppress pathogenic bacteria.
