According to Monitor on April 8th, a road construction project costing 20 billion shillings is about to be completed, which is expected to greatly promote commercial activities in Tororo city and increase local economic income. Mr. Francis Ockma, the head of Tororo Municipal Engineering, revealed that the project progress has reached 97%. He emphasized that the contractor Dott Services has promised to complete the remaining 3% of the project to ensure no further delays. The second phase of the project started in April 2021 and was originally planned to be completed within 15 months, but due to the contractor's failure to complete it on schedule, the project has experienced several delays and the final completion deadline is now set for December 2024. Mr. Okma mentioned that the remaining visible work currently includes installing road bends, setting up road signs and pavement markings. He also pointed out that in the final stage of the project, the contractor is restoring vegetation in the watershed by planting grass to address the severe soil erosion and flooding issues in Tororo town. Mr. Okma added, "During the defect liability period, the contractor is also responsible for resolving any road engineering issues that may arise on completed sections, and the defect liability period will be extended until early 2026
