1. On September 25, 2024, a grand diplomatic event was held on the lawn of the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The Chinese Embassy in Uganda held a grand reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Many guests from the Ugandan government, friendly individuals from all walks of life, representatives of Chinese funded institutions, and overseas Chinese gathered together to celebrate this historic moment.
The party started at 17:00 in the evening, and guests arrived at the venue one after another. At 18:00, with the national anthems of the The Republic of Uganda and the People's Republic of China played, the reception officially kicked off. The Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Zhang Lizhong, took the lead in delivering a speech, reviewing the history of friendly cooperation between China and Uganda, and looking forward to the broad prospects of future cooperation. He said that the friendship between China and Uzbekistan has been deepening, and the two peoples have carried out fruitful cooperation in various fields. In the future, they will work together to further consolidate bilateral relations.
Subsequently, the Ugandan Minister of Health presided over the shift change ceremony of the Chinese medical team and awarded commendation certificates to the members of the Chinese medical team who have been serving in Uganda for a long time, thanking them for their outstanding contributions to the health cause of the Ugandan people. This warm and touching scene showcases the profound friendship between China and Ukraine.
The evening also paid special tribute to the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Confucius Institute at Makairere University in Uganda, recognizing its contributions to promoting cultural exchanges and educational cooperation between China and Ukraine. The Vice President of Uganda, Her Excellency Jessica Alubo, then delivered a speech summarizing the recent gains from attending the China Africa Forum in China. On behalf of the Ugandan government and people, she thanked China for providing assistance to Uganda in various fields, especially in healthcare, infrastructure construction, and cultural exchanges. She highly praised the cooperation between China and Ukraine and looks forward to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the future.
After the solemn cake cutting ceremony, the reception entered a relaxed and enjoyable performance segment. Firstly, a dance performance called "Dancing with the Flourishing Years of Life" brought vibrant dance moves, followed by "The Moon Represents My Heart" performed by the choir and saxophone band, which touched the hearts of the guests present. And another choral work, "The Venue of Starry Night," is accompanied by Tai Chi dance, showcasing the serene beauty of Eastern culture to the fullest.
At the end of the evening party, amidst the melodious music, the guests enjoyed a sumptuous buffet dinner and engaged in enthusiastic communication. The reception ended successfully in a friendly and cheerful atmosphere.
2. UPDF and FARDC jointly killed 27 ADF rebels in combat. This operation aims to curb the increasingly rampant rebellion in the region and restore peace.
3. Museveni dismissed KCCA officials from their positions. Ugandan President Museveni dismissed two senior officials from the Kampala City Authority (KCCA), accusing them of dereliction of duty in the Kiteezi landfill disaster. 5. Violent clashes have occurred among Chinese businessmen in Uganda. According to the New Far East News, four Chinese citizens have been charged with attempted murder and sent to Kauga prison. They are senior management personnel of a certain Huashang Industrial Park, who had a conflict with two other Chinese businessmen due to a commercial dispute. The suspect allegedly attacked the victims on September 18th, vandalized their apartment in Namanwe Industrial Park, and stole electronic devices. The case will continue to be tried on September 30th, and the suspect has applied to be transferred from Kauga prison to Luzira prison.
